♦ Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions
What year is it in the game
What happened in the Department of Mysteries?
In game it is 2004 after the first few sightings of people have occurred. It will be game day = real time date. Meaning that if we begin the game on July 6th 2009 it will be July 6th 2004 in game. As far as time wise (AM/PM) be reasonable. Try and post a thread during those hours keeping in mind that everyone is in a different time zone. Threads should be done on the date they are to occur however backdating is allowed but should be kept to a minimum.
The Elder Wand being a very powerful magical object collided with the Veil which is an unknown and powerful link to the world beyond. When the two collided the Elder Wand acted in defense of Harry and unfortunately was reduced to splinters of wood while the Veil was ripped open by the blast leaving the veil able to be seen moving openly between both worlds pulling in and sending out those on either side.
The dead are returning?
Where do they go when they come back?
Yes the dead are able to come back through the veil now that it is opened. Meaning, anyone within the realm of the dead (Bellatrix, Albus, Tom Riddle ect.) are able to return if they are strong enough to pull themselves out of the veil and into the living world. Their bodies because they are passing into the ‘living’ from the veil itself are not ghosts but rather made corporal and slowly as they adjust to being where they are, take on their living form again.
Each person who comes back from beyond the veil comes back at the precise moment they had their happiest or in some cases, their most traumatic moment. Which means, they may or may not be the age at which they died. If their happiest moment was at the age of sixteen they will return at that age regardless if they died at one hundred or not. That also means they will return at that place as well regardless if what they remember being there stands or not.
Will they have their memories?
What do they do now that they are alive?
Each person who returns will have different memories due to the ages they are returning at. Meaning this; If the character comes back at the age of sixteen regardless if they died at a hundred, they will only have sixteen years worth of their memories. Some memories may return as shimmers from coming in contact with places of great emotional importance to them within their life, however for the most part, they will have to piece together who they were after their memories stop. Those who are older will maintain older memories ect.
The Ministry of Magic has declared that these people are all to be registered within the ministry not to alienate them from the population but to keep track of who has come back from the dead and unfortunately, those that go missing too are placed on a list in case it is discovered they have been pulled into the veil by mistake. The people who come back will be given temporary places to live by the Ministry as well as help finding jobs and family. It is up to them after that, to create a life of their own until the Ministry can sort out what to do with them and how to send them back, if they can.
Can they come back pregnant or become pregnant?
Pregnancy among the living?
If your character’s happiest moment was during a pregnancy at any point within it they will come back having memories of being pregnant they would return that way as well. They can also become pregnant again (females only sorry no m-preg).
Obviously people who are alive can become pregnant (again females only no m-preg). They would need to carry the child to term or at least within 3-4 months of that since pregnancies ending at five months or less are usually still born children or miscarriages. They should last the length in game (sorry you can’t have a Twilight Pregnancy of six weeks or whatever it is) and they should develop the symptoms as time moves which means, while they can tell they are pregnant up to 2 weeks after sex they won’t experience morning sickness at the earliest until the second month or even early third. Some women don’t even experience symptoms.

There are contraceptive charms, we allow potions but that’s it for that unless they use muggle condoms. AND pregnancy tests are done at St mungos through blood or at home in the same way. 3 drops of blood in a potion created for that will tell pregnancy and by color (red or blue) what gender but those must be taken 2 weeks after possible conception and not all sex ends in pregnancy.
Well what about the people alive? What are they doing?
What Happened to Death Eaters or Supporters?
The wizarding world has spent the last six years rebuilding and attempting to move on from the tragedy that was last war with Voldemort and the Death Eaters. The Order was properly laid to rest once more as was the D.A because their use was no longer necessary, though should it be, they knew that there would be a call for them to answer. The rest of society has begun to attempt to heal from the things that happened. Families buried their loved ones, people had children and the Trio are now part of society moving by day to day.
The Death Eaters were all given Azkaban sentences or the Dementor’s Kiss with a trial by the Ministry under the New Minister for Magic Hestia Jones. Those that weren’t captured immediately later were and were given trials. Those Death Eaters that had turned Order supporters were given punishments for their crimes however they were given also more leniency because of their work against Voldemort. Students from Hogwarts who fought for Voldemort were given an Azkaban sentence as well with Death Eaters however Minister for Magic Hestia Jones decided that rather than punish them and give them no chance at life, she would try and rehabilitate them and give them a second chance.
What happened to the Students?
How long will they remain in this program?
Those that were in Azkaban were released into a recovery program at St. Mungos for as long as it took for them to come to terms with what they experienced and begin to recover mentally and physically. After their duration they were placed in the care of an Auror for three weeks and after that, released into the population on their own with a job given to them as well as the expectation that they keep in touch with their auror. If they don’t it’s back to Azkaban for them.
The Minister of Magic has appointed these students at least three years of hard work before they can appeal to be given back their full lives. They must earn it every step of the way and it is difficult, nothing in life is easy after all. Once they get past the three years they will receive a second hearing, should they be found ‘rehabilitated’ they are free to go about their lives. Should they not? They are sentenced to more time.
How do journals work?
Privacy Hexes?
Journals were developed by George Weasley as a recent means of communication. Originally they were marketed to students at Hogwarts, but they became something of a ‘craze’ and people began giving them out as gifts to others as a good means of communication that could be (sometimes) faster than owls from distances. They are not quite as popular among the older generations however they were given to all Ministry workers as a gift from the Ministry and to St. Mungo’s workers.
Entries can be warded to specific people, groups or to the writer themselves. Each ward should be clearly marked and hexed to them or (in some cases) hexed against specific people or people. They can also have splotch marks from quills should you wish to use an image for something like that, they can have strick out words which are not readable. Strike Outs are also not readable.
