Game Rules and Regulations
Drama
Age Limit
Drama in this community will consist of things in game that are going on. No one likes having so much drama going on IC and OOC that they dread logging onto their accounts. Likewise, the mods do not enjoy this and we respect our players enough to make sure this doesn’t happen. The drama that goes on in game should not be brought OOC into relationships with players or your mods. Negative OOC drama from IC reasons will get you a warning or asked to leave the community. We are here to have fun not to relive High School. Respect the IC|OOC line and there should be no issue.
Due to the nature of darker games and the themes that will be allowed here we are placing the age limit at Eighteen years of age and older. We realize that this doesn’t seem fair to younger, mature players, however we feel it is best to set that bar at a level at which we would expect most players to be mature enough to handle any theme given to them. We apologize to younger players who may have looked into the game. We’re sure you will find good homes for your character’s elsewhere.
Maximum Characters
Journals

The maximum number of characters a single player can take is going to be five. You may start the game with three and once we see your activity level you may apply for a fourth after that the same goes for a fifth so long as you are able to be equally active with all your characters and not over do yourself. Should you find yourself in a position where you are more active with some than others, the mods will step in and ask you to limit your number of characters to a more reasonable level.

In order to be considered for acceptance once you have filled out your application you must have a ready to use journal user name and their bio completed by the time you start playing, so that everyone gets an idea of your character. It would also be appreciated to post you character's info in an entry in the journal, rather than in their user-info, with a photo or sentence linking to the character information, complete with disclaimer of PB and game. Please also keep this applicable to your character. 'nicegrl01' is not going to work for Pansy. But 'pugs' or 'pugging' perhaps might due to the nickname from the books.

Everyone like having a journal that looks nice and a bio page that is equally as nice. It is NOT required of you to go all out and fancy. A Basic bio and layout outside of the basic one automatically given to the journal is fine. However if you choose to fix up your journal we suggest using [info]rp_tutorials for all your needs.
Role Playing
Activity

Personal journals are to be written in first-person, present tense. You are writing them as if your character is writing out their opinions and feelings directly in their words. A thread usually involves 2+ characters and will be written in third-person. Some threads will be solo with a single person writing out them doing something for the purpose of plot or their own side plot. Those are also allowed but as a general rule threads are 2+ people.

The status should say ‘complete’ within a reasonable amount of time so that we do not have a community full of incomplete threads and for activity checks.

We will allow all ratings from G to NC-17. However please label threads appropriately. The scale and what is considered what is linked here for your convenience.

All journals must be updated at least once every two weeks. This is making sure that the community stays active. It is also advised that your character(s) is involved in a thread at least twice a week, so you have an opportunity to play them out. Activity sweeps will be done monthly and all characters will be checked for inactivity.
God-Modding
Understanding Of The Books

God-modding is a big no-no. When in a thread please do not control someone else's character. People take time in developing their characters please don't be an idiot and force their character to do something perhaps they didn't want them to do or wouldn't have done. If you notice another player doing this, please tell the mods immediately so this can be sorted out. Now there are times you may ask someone if you can say 'hey to move it along may I say they left' or whatever the case may be. But that kind of case would be the ONLY exception.

This game is canon through the last book but not necessarily Epilogue Compliant. Meaning everything from book one until the last chapter of book seven about Harry did happen in game. Which yes we understand is a lot of information to take in. However we do ask that you have at least a good or fair grasp of the things that happened. If you don’t? Go to HP Wiki or HP Lexicon from google and make sure your information is accurate. As far as Epilogue goes, things can change and it’s only 2004 a lot can change. No Hermione does NOT have to be pregnant by now, NO Ginny and Harry do NOT have to be dating. That is up to players.
The Sue or Stu
Friends Button

Everyone who role plays, has had at least one sue in their life. It isn’t a shameful thing because it happens and is natural in the progression of writing. However when you are taking on a character make certain they are 3D and by that I mean they have both flaws/vices as well as things that make them great. A balance is what you are looking for. Yes some people have more flaws than good things but don’t make them so flawed they are unrealistic. Realistic is the key. Imagine you were talking to this person. Would you want to talk to a ‘perfect’ person? No, it’d be boring. So make them realistic.

Keep your friends lists up to date please. When we add someone add them back. If we have 40 journals in the community and someone only has 25 of them on their friends list, something is wrong. Keep yourself up to date.
