♦ The Premise

Main Plot
Harry Potter stood in the Department of Mysteries, his eyes staring toward the veil where seven years ago Sirius Black was struck down from this world into the next by Bellatrix Lestrange. Of course the Ministry member who brought Potter in risked more than just a slap on the wrist for allowing an outsider let alone so close to the veil one of the most guarded secrets of the Ministry. However for the ‘Hero’ of the Wizarding World, he bent the rules in gratitude for his sacrifices.

Harry was now twenty-three and an auror not too long out of the program. He much like the rest of the world was attempting to rebuild and make something of what remained after the terrible atrocities of the war ripped the wizarding world apart. Memories now were finally beginning to fade as the last of the Death Eaters were captured and sent to Azkaban or given the kiss as punishment for their crimes. The ‘normal’ citizens tried to move on with their lives as best they could with what was left.

But for one person things were not so simple. For, Harry Potter, the golden boy, wanted only one thing; to feel whole again.

“Mr. Potter are you almost finished in here?” The words came from the doorway to the room and it was clear that time was up again for Harry and his visit. He would have to wait another year to come back to hear the whispering beyond the veil in hopes that Sirius would have a chance to break his voice through and find Harry. However, this time was different, this time, Harry stepped forward and reached toward the arch and though he was stopped at the last moment before he could come in contact with the “empty” set of stones, something else did.

A flash entered the room and splintered pieces of wood sparked and exploded to land around the room before finally everything returned to the calm it had been before. When both wizards looked up from their positions? Pieces of the elder wand lay spread about like nothing more than the rest of the rubble in the room. “What were you thinking Harry? Do you know what you could have done? Come on we have to get you out of here before someone comes to investigate.”

As Harry was dragged out, no one noticed the flickering and the sudden appearance of a black curtain like veil that appeared flapping as if in a breeze. Nor did anyone notice the sudden emergence of fingers seeming to be crawling their way out from the inside and the whispering of a light brighter than that ever seen before.

♦♦♦♦

Months went by with nothing noticed from the Veil. Some assumed what happened, and the broken pieces of wand were meaningless so they were ignored as people went back about their lives.

On January 3rd 2004 Ewan A. Kirk (Andrew Kirk’s Uncle) a guard at the Ministry was doing his usual rounds and heard voices coming from the Veil room in the Department of Mysteries. Sure someone had broken in he stormed into the room ready for a fight to find…nothing. Nothing out of the ordinary and no signs of anyone in there but himself. He checked everywhere he could but nothing turned up. Disgruntled and confused he left the room and went back about his duties telling no one of the odd events for fear he would be called insane or worse, told he was spending too much time on the job.

On June 30, 2004, What would be the greatest man-hunt in Ministry history for a Ministry member began. The Ministry of Magic was completely shut down and all movement in and out of wizarding London was prohibited.

What would cause such a stand still to be brought down upon the world?

Ministry of Magic Unspeakable Lycia Portian disappeared from the Veil room during one of her many visits to the room in order to ensure the security and safety of what lay within the room. Hours after her disappearance Ministry workers came up with nothing and when they returned to the Veil room, in her place stood a young man with red hair and bright blue eyes staring down at the aurors in front of him. The young man introduced himself as Albus Dumbledore and that was where the trouble all began.

Slowly more and more people were discovered, not within the Ministry, but wandering about in daylight trying to figure out what was going on. Those who had been dead for years and some who had died only recently were seen by relatives, friend and even strangers. The Ministry had no explanation for it, nor, for how to return these individuals back to the veil room because it was also discovered soon after that anyone who goes into the veil room not only can those who lay within come out, but those who are ‘out’ can be pulled in.
